Loneliness taught me to keep busy
Fear of loneliness kept me busy
So as not to risk vulnerability,
falling on deaf ears
So, when others sought me, I raised my shield of busy-ness
And sought the pages before me to hear me
The downfall
The pages don’t talk back
So I’m left with revelations of my own design
Left unchecked
Until my ignorant words betray me
At the slightest yield of my shield
